Japanese small exporters and other small companies in Japan are in for a rough time indeed. This is not a new situation. Smaller companies in Japan have been suffering for a long time because the focus has mostly been on larger companies and the banking industry. It is often said and it is true that small businesses are the backbone of a nation; it is true for the United States, for Japan and all nations.
I would like to know what is being done to assist smaller businesses in Japan that is on the scale of what is being done to save the larger companies and banks?
The news is now focusing more and more on the plight of the small business. I read in the New York Times of a hard hit Japanese exporter of electronic parts. It tells of these small unknown, but vitally important companies that make and supply the components that go into the famous SONY or Toyota products that are sold worldwide. This is a good start to shining a light on the issue but these companies need more than light.
These smaller companies need stimulus packages geared towards them, educational programs that will help them utilize technology to make them more efficient and competitive and a host of other things. I hope the Japanese government starts with monetary help that is so needed AND follows up programs that will help these smaller companies develop and grow.
My company is in the midst of developing a new venture that will assist smaller Japanese and U.S businesses so stay tuned. I will be writing about it soon.

Hi Yvonne - what do you think about a kind of Green New Deal as boosting economy package?

Good article that reminds us that this is a global problem, not just a Wall Street issue. Unfortunately, the stimulus (bailout) is going to many who created the problems, not the ones that it affects.
